Bringing young people together to hear their voices

I brought a group of young people together from across London to help focus the thinking. They told me that better access to networking events, internships, quality work experience and mentors would make a big difference. Careers advice is not consistently strong and can overly focus on finance and law. Young people don’t want to be talked down to without any age or colour stigma. They want opportunities to develop people skills and develop links with business and business leaders. They want help to understand work life before they get there which is very different from school life. The business City is seen as inaccessible. They are up for continuing the engagement as we develop the thinking. Great also to be joined by young people from City Gateway.
